Dr. Welch's journey in veterinary medicine has been marked by a commitment to community service. She played a pivotal role in establishing local animal shelters and served as the Medical Director of a nonprofit spay-neuter clinic. Under her leadership, the clinic expanded to three locations, emphasizing efficiency without compromising on quality. Her initiatives included writing practical medicine protocols, designing surgical suites and implementing training programs to nurture the next generation of veterinary assistants.

Dr. Welch lives in North Carolina with her husband, 3 children and 3 rescue pets Mango, Eleanor and Riggs. When she's not helping animals, she loves to watch her children's sporting events and theater plays, attend Charlotte FC soccer games and Knights baseball games, run races with her friends, and relax on the beach.

April was born and raised in Southern California and moved to North Carolina a year ago with her husband Nevada, and two dogs Cleo (a 3 yr old, half dutch shepherd and half lab) and Shelby (a 10 month old, half golden half lab). She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health Science with an emphasis in Business and a minor in Equine Science. She loves working as a registered vet tech where she gets to meet new pets and grow client-patient relationships!

In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her dogs and set up their doggie pool as they LOVE the water.  April has recently taken up gardening, and enjoys exploring and finding new hidden gems in North Carolina. A fun fact about April is that, while she was in college, she lived on an Arabian horse ranch and got to help train the next up and coming generation of Arabian show horses!
